West End Farmers Market
So its the weekends again & weekends to us are meant for exploring Australia!
Did I mention that last night we went to the city (in fact, we go to the city every Fri night) for shopping!
Last week when we went there, we only had dinner & just walked around & went to Coles (supermarket).
But yesterday, we decided to walk further & deeper in to explore around & we had lots of harvest.
By that, I meant we (or rather, ME) found a lot of good buys & almost every shop is having discount!
So I spent a total of AU$31.85 on:
- A double-ring + a set of 3 rings + a bracelet from Diva @ AU$11.85
- 2 tank tops (AU$5each) + a set of bikini (AU$2/set) @ AU$12
- A maxi dress @ AU$7.90!
I gotta admit this looks like impulse buying but, I bought everything after much consideration ok!
I mean, look, even after converting to S$, you wouldn't even find a set of bikini at S$2.60 or maxi at S$10!
Not even at Bugis street I tell you! Plus, the materials are not that bad!
Also, the rings at Diva over here are constantly having half-price cause they're always coming up with new designs!
Enough said, back to today...
Faith, the Singapore friend we met from Singapore Student Association in QUT asked if we'd like to go to the West End Farmers Market this weekend.
Even though we have a market every Sat at Kelvin Grove campus (15mins walk from our house), we thought it might be fun to try take the public transport to somewhere further out there!
We walked out to the main road of our street & went to search for the bus stop.
We went to to wrong bus stop at first but managed to find our way at last. I gotta say that SBS is better.
Everything is written at the bus stop, bus service number, route, timing, distance etc. Not here.
Nonetheless, we managed to get up the right bus & got down the right bus stop. Where we're meeting Faith.
After that its another... I'd say... 30mins walk from the bus stop to where we wna go - West End Farmers Market.
Here you go! This is the entrance.
When I first got here, I thought it looks like those Salvation Army flea we have in Farrer Park or something.
It also seems like some Pasar Malam but they also sell fresh groceries & even clothes!
We're not even 100m in & I already bought 2 tops at AU$5each. Haha. Nice & cheap!
Behind some stalls there are also live performance & people usually just grab some quick bites & sit there & watch.
We bought a Curry Puff each for breakfast. Haha. Not comparable to Old Chang Kee's but edible.
The entire market is about 1km long with stalls on both side.
We walked in to the end & walk out. Didn't bought any groceries because we wanted to go to the city (again) to settle my ATM card & have lunch etc.
We actually also intend to take the Ferris Wheel this evening but, we're too tired by the end of the day.
You'll know why.

We're walking to the city from West End & past this Gallery place.
Check out that wire thing floating on top!
We're on Victoria Bridge crossing over to South Banks.
The bridge on the other side is GoodWood Bridge.
We hit the city & saw a bunch of dancers shuffling in the middle of the parade square.
Saw this at Big W. Its a set of 10 nail polish at you-guess-how-much! AU$10!!
1 nail polish AU$1 only!!!
Ok guess what, the rest of the day was spent shopping again.
Its like almost every shop we walked past is on sale & its not those normal sale, is those ONE-DAY SALE!
We just HAVE to walk in & grab whatever we like because they're all good quality products at dirt cheap price!
I spent another AU$39 (excluding the 2 tops I bought earlier at West End Market) on:
- A top + a dress @ AU$10each
- Roxy straw bag @ AU$15 (!!!!!)
- Diva ring @ AU$4
In conclusion, I'm a spendthrift. Kthxbye.
