Travel-log:
Batam, Indonesia
Batam, Indonesia
So approx 3 months ago there's a travel deal on Deal.com for 2D1N Batam at S$55.
Bbg Limei saw it and texted me about it. I was so excited. Asked my parents and booked them immediately along with the others.
It was really a good deal. S$55 for a 2D1N stay in Batam inclusive of 2-way ferry, land transfer, stay at 4* Golden View Hotel, buffet breakfast, seafood lunch, paint ball games, flying fox, 1hr massage and city tour.
We have to pay additional S$27 for the fuel charges though.
And as we went on Sat, we have to pay addition S$5 surcharge. And dinner was not inclusive.
Nevetheless, it was a really good deal as a 2-way ferry already costs S$40!
Also, our hotel is super super super clean, nice and comfortable! It's beside a famous restaurant and the activities too!
21st July - Saturday
Anyways, rise bright and early even though I slept late and work up a few hours later and can't get back to sleep.
Meeting point at Harbourfront station.
Breakfast before boarding.
Babygirl Jo.
Goodbye, Singapore!
In the ferry. Which is super cold! Brrr~~!
After approx 1hr of ride, we finally arrived at Sekupang Ferry Terminal.
It was super hilarious at the check-point cos we're making lots of noise and the officer told us to keep quiet.
He then pointed to a sign that says "Do not make noise." We can't even talk or he'll stare at us.
He then pointed to a sign that says "Do not make noise." We can't even talk or he'll stare at us.
Lovin' the coach ride... NOT!
We're on the same coach as other tourists like us, who booked this trip via the coupon.
However, our age gap is SO huge! They're like, my parents' age! Most of them.
And it's obviously we can't even clique! And the tour-guide, lame as ever.
I was expecting them to send us back to the hotel to check-in first but we went right off to the day tour.
And by the way, the day tour was worst than I expected.
First stop, Chocolate House.
I believe the chocolates inside can be found in any part of the world. And it's not much cheaper too.
Hil baby and I with our background full of chocolates.
Wanted to take a photo with the keropok(sp?) stall but end up blocking it. Major bimz.
Ralph Lauren boutique. It was said that RL is super cheap there. But we dare not buy cos we still think it's fake :/
We also went to other places. Like, shops that sells their local products. Keropok, coffee powder etc.
I am very tempted to buy the 猫屎咖啡 where a type of cat eats the coffee bean and shit it out then use the 'shit' to brew coffee.
I saw it on TV and it's said to be very nice and fragrant but, it cost S$25 for 1 small packet. Meh.
I wanted to buy tit-bits though. But after that I didn't. And I don't know why.
Finally before lunch the tour guide brought us to the place I'm interested in - Kueh Lapis!
Indonesia's famous for their cheap and nice Kueh Lapis. And I have already prepared enough cash to buy boxes home! :DDD
End up they're 'not so cheap' afterall. More expensive than I thought. But still, major yumz!
Lunch at Golden Prawn 933. Which was inclusive in the package.
Out of these 6 dishes I love the prawn (shrimp, rather) and the fried sotong the most!
Didn't tried the gong-gong even though they said it was nice cos I think they're disgusting :x
Fish was not bad too. There's actually a bowl of soup but I labeled that as inedible.
We had coconuts for our drinks. Cooling drink in this hot hot weather.
Massage time!
The massage was not that bad. Except it was rather ticklish when they exert force at some part.
I still prefer the Thai massage I had in Phuket though. Oh how I miss Phuket!!! :(
Shopped around while waiting for the other tourists to be done. They paid $10 for 30mins extension.
Chocolate Banana crepe! Texture more like biscuit though :/
Bought a pack of Yakult to share. Their Yakult is so small in size!
While shopping in the mall we only target the supermarket. Because Hil wants to get IndoMie!
I have not tried IndoMie myself but I heard from many that it taste awesome!
And guess what, we bought a carton back :x 6 of us share 40packs among ourselves.
We also got drinks for the 'party' tonight! :D
It was end of our day tour and the tour guide finally brought us to our hotel.
Our hotel - Golden View Hotel, is a 4/5* hotel and it was awesome!
I went to Google the hotel way before our trip and the pictures were so nice!
Besides, right next to our hotel is a famous restaurant and there were games like flying fox, go-kart, paintball etc.
Our comfortable hotel room :)
After settling in we changed into our swim suit and head to the hotel pool for a swim!
Aftermath we went back to change and head out for dinner!
The place where we had lunch earlier, Golden Prawn 933, was right beside our hotel.
Besides that restaurant is Golden Prawn 555. Which, is actually the same restaurant. The numbers are just the address.
And since we tried Golden Prawn 933, we went to 555 instead :)
Choosing our seafood! Fresh!
And look at the shark at the bottom right! Humongous!
Satisfying dinner ;)
Scallops, Kang-Kong, Cereal Prawn, Hot Plate Tofu, Bamboo Clams, Salted-Egg Crab, Fried Chicken.
And I ordered Avocado juice. Which taste super nice! But that Dragon Fruit juice sucks ttm! >.<
After dinner. Camping in the hotel lobby tryna make use of the wifi as our room doesn't have wifi :(
In the night after we've washed up and changed into our PJs, we gather in Hil and Jo's room for the 'party'.
Limei has some games in mind for us. I already knew what game she'd planned. And I'm tryna psycho the rest not to play. Haha.
In the end we played it and we got bored halfway so we changed games.
Whatever. In the end, we drank a bottle and we girls just comatose on the bed while the guys finished the rest.
22nd July - Sunday
Rise and shine!
View from our hotel room at 9AM.
Breakfast at the hotel lobby before we kick start the day! :D
We arranged for a driver to pick us up and send us to the place where we can play all our games.
It was all fully paid in the package. Paintball and flying fox. We thought go-kart was inclusive too, but no.
So since we're here and we're tryna spend all our money, we paid $15 for 5mins of go-kart! But it was fun! :D
Paint ball wasn't what I expected.
I thought we'd be playing against each other but no, it's just shooting the bottles. Meh.
All geared up for our flying fox! :D
We're quite high above the ground and as I was climbing, I was shaking. Super scared ttm!
Embrace ourselves :/
Super scared and I kept checking with the person if my belt was fastened tightly etc.
WOOHOO!
*vroom vroom!*
After our fun we went back to our hotel.
Since we have some time left, we changed into our swimsuits again and head to the pool!
Goodbye, Batam. We'll miss you.
Our ferry back is like, 3PM but the transport came to pick us up at 12PM.
Can't believe our short getaway has ended so quickly.
Taken at the ferry terminal while waiting to board the ferry.
We look like Vietnamese brides.
The ferry back to Singapore seems shorter than traveling to Batam.
Anyway, happy to be back home cos I am super tired from the lack of sleep and loads of fun. Lethargy.
Right after we arrive back, the rest of them went home while Jz and I went to meet Dan and Mel for dinner.
At the same time passing them their loots we got for them from Batam.
Nah. My dinner. Sashimi Salad from Yaki Yaki Bo.
I willingly spend my money on 3 boxes of kueh lapis and 5 packets of IndoMie. This is only half. The other half is with Jz.
What I enjoyed most about this trip is the company. X
